About our Honorees

Scott Reiter joined Sunflower’s leadership in 2015 when he became co-chair of the newly formed Sunflower Café (then a separate entity). After Scott helped to establish and ensure the viability of the Café, the Café became a part of the Bakery’s organization and Scott joined the Sunflower board. Scott served as an active board member and co-chair of the Program Committee before becoming Chair of the Board in 2020. During his time as Chair of the Board, Sunflower’s programs continued to grow, and he oversaw the successful hiring and transition of Sunflower’s new Executive Director. Scott is currently the Past Chair of the Board and the Chair of the Governance Committee. In addition to Sunflower, Scott spent many years volunteering on the boards of Berman Hebrew Academy and Ohev Sholom DC. Scott grew up in Seattle, Washington and is an avid sports fan; when not volunteering or working as an attorney for the Department of Justice, he can typically be seen (and heard) rooting for Seattle and Washington, DC sports teams. Scott is blessed to be supported in all of his efforts by his incredible wife, Rachel Weintraub, and their three children, E, Eliana, and Dalia.

After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Boston College, Patricia started her career in Boston, Massachusetts, working with high school students focused on community and employment readiness. This work led her to earn a Master of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling with a focus on adolescents where she applied her expertise working at the Massachusetts State Department of Education. When she moved to Montgomery County, her goals to develop linkages from school services to post-secondary opportunities and services found a perfect match with Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Transition Services. At MCPS, she worked first as a transition support teacher (TST), then as a transition specialist working directly for the Transition Unit, and currently she serves as supervisor.
After twenty-seven years with MCPS Transition Services, Patricia now serves as supervisor of Transition Services within the Department of Special Education Services. In this capacity, Patricia works to implement federal, state, and local policies and procedures related to students receiving special education services; serves as liaison to administrators and staff regarding secondary transition and continues to develop county/community partnerships to design and implement transition-related activities and services, prioritizing post-secondary outcomes and opportunities.
During her tenure with MCPS, Patricia has also served as a Sunflower Bakery Board Member, where she provided her guidance and support to Sunflower on their employment training programs for young adults with learning differences.
