Enabling pathways to employment

Sunflower Bakery enables pathways to employment for young adults and teens with learning differences through pre-employment exposure and workforce development training in Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts, Hospitality and related industries. Sunflower provides an inclusive, one-of-a-kind professional training experience that combines technical hard skills with soft skills of employment readiness.

Our Impact

Sunflower Bakery is creating opportunity and changing lives. Since 2009, Sunflower has touched the lives of over 675 teens and young adults with learning differences.

Sunflower’s work is funded in part by the US Department of Labor. The estimated total cost of Sunflower Bakery’s Workforce Development Training Programs for FY2026 is approximately $2.6 million. Of this amount, an estimated $75,000 (approximately 3%) is anticipated to be funded through the U.S. Department of Labor. The remaining approximately $2.525 million (approximately 97%) is expected to be funded through state, county, and city government support, as well as foundation, corporate, and individual contributions.
